Freezing and Beeps during installation
Hi, I am new to the Linux community
so please be patient :P
Ok the problem, I am trying to install Mandrake 10.0 onto a 20GB HDD (slave). It boots off the CD and I follow the instructions. I fill out all the details and it then get to the "Installation Process" where it starts to copy the files over. After 30 seconds (on average) my PC freezes and beeps 3 times.
Could this be RAM?
I have also tried a 3GB HDD as well and it does the same thing.
My system can’t be overheating as I have 3 extra cooling fans and I have looked in the bios "Hardware Monitor" and it all looks fine.
The strange thing is that if I load up Windows Xp everything works fine and I can leave it on for days and it does not freeze or beep.
My System Specs are;
Mobo: Asus A7V600-X
Processor: AMD XP 3000+
Memory: PC3200 256MB
HHD1: Deskstar 80GB (Master with Xp Pro on)
HDD2: Maxtor 20GB (Slave, and formatted during the installation)
Please HELP!
Cheers

Hi, yes I did, I downloaded the ISO's of www.linuxiso.org and then used Nero 6 to burn them directly
