    Noob - installed mandrake now what !


    I got given a 3CD set of mandrake 10 around 3 months ago, and was well happy..

    I've now got another PC to install it on, whilst doing my work on Windoze

    Now im a complete noob to Unix/Linux ! I started the colmputer after installing Linux, i selted Linux from the list ...

    Got greated with alogin screen, logged in ...

    Now it comes up .. username@localhost username]$

    how do i get the GNU/desktop up ???

    Sorry if this gets asked alot but im lost....

    i type startx

    it comes up

    using authority file /root/.Xauthroty

    writeing

    using

    Etc etc

    then execuve failked for /etc/X11/X (errno 13_
    xinit: server eror


    ?

    ls
    dylunio

    i type

    cd /etc/X11/xinit


    then it says no such file or directory

    etc etc

    what u looking for in there mate ???? .. idunno what im doing

    I'm looking for xinit, since it contains 'xinitrc' and 'xserverrc' which you need to run kde
