cannot boot from cd
i be absolute newbie about linux
my problem is
after i reboot and mandrake9 installation started (F1 or enter for setup)
hit any F1 or enter, my screen goes blank and i cant see what to do next. after dis when i reboot my win xp goes under black screen too, i hear it started when press enter but the view don't showup.needs to rebbot once again. the same problem accured when i tried to access xp setup by cd. (i hav no floppy drive) maybe it is smth with monitor or cd (dvdrom)
yesterday i've tried to burn knoppix, but some error occured when burning, coz it dont autostart at all.

AMD 64bit 3000+
256ram x2
dvd+-rw liteon
geforce5600
and i think the problem might be with monitor. it is "LEO" (i use it as play'n plug device and it is working propertly) with the lion logo
after i tried to install linux, i had to turn it off and turnon again a lot of times under xp while installing drivers (i reinstalled xp coz crashed it somehow else), display disapeared and monitor not responded.
its old and small and im planning to buy a new in time.
my mandrake cd can be with errors also, but the problem i can't make bootable cd under win.
ah yes i found tomstrbt (the smallest linstribution) which u can run from floppy, but i hav no flopy drive
(think i gonna buy one)
i will try once more today hav some time
thanks for reply

disk partitioning under xp
doup.
ies it can be a problem. and i downloaded slackware 10 and it is working, i did a mistake when burning ISO i think when knoppix not worked.
now im having prob finding program which can work on xp (becouse i have one huge partition ~170gb ntfs formated for xp and wanti resize it to make some space for unix) and partition magic not work when detects i using xp..
and it is not possible to resize partitions under fdisk as i see.
maybe someone can give a link?
and suggest what type of unix is better (im just starting yu know)
is there a need to get special edition for 64bit support?
thank you for your patience!
