Mandrake 10.0 and LAN Internet

Hi guys this is my first post so go easy on me.
I installed Mandrake 10.0 for the first time last night on an Intel Celeron 1.8ghz machine last night.

Everything works fine accept...
Im trying to get it to connect to the internet through my Netgear DG834 (ADSL modem\firewall\switch\router). To which I already have an XP machine running.

When I boot up I get all Green OK's until eth0 which always fails?....
I also get the (!) icon in the taskbar

I cannot for the life of me get this thing to work..
I select LAN at the connection setup menu and give all the information I have that it asks for....

In my router config I have;
IP Address
DHCP; PPPoA
IP SUBnet
GAteway IP
Domain Name

Which I enter with no effect?

The Network card is a Realtek 8139

Is this a network driver problem or a internet settings problem?
Linux seems to confuse the two from my point of view...

Help appreciated...

Please post the contents of /etc/sysconfig/network and /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0

I only started using Linux yesterday so Im afraid I dont know how to do that?

Should they be used as commands?..

Details I have from my routers config
Ip Address; xx.xxx.xxx.x
DHCP; PPPoA
IP Subnet Mask 255.255.255.255
Gateway Ip Address; xx.xx.x.xx
Domain Name Server; 194.74.65.68
194.72.9.34

I dont understand the following when asked? Trying to set up a lan connection....
1. Assign Hostname from DHCP Address; Should this be ticked?
All i know is that my Router acts as a DHCP and its PPPoA, there are no addresses or names given

2. Enter Hostname?
Which piece of information is that? The Host is the router i guess...
I input the Gateway IP usually given above?? Is this right?

3. Enter a Zeroconf Hostname
I have No idea what this is?

when RomKnoght told u to post the contents of .... he means u just go to the address of thoses files and open them with may be Kwrite , copy the contents and post it here . u can just copy the address and paste in the Konqeror address bar it will show the file contents
