Where can I go online to check and upgrade the software I have on my machine?

You can use the Mandrake Control Center. Under software management, there's an icon called updates.

And if you get errors, you can check /var/cache/urpmi/rpm for the downloaded files and then using urpmi, manually add individual packages.

Careful with the command line though. There's an update for urpmi that breaks the rpm installation on 9.1 pretty badly. Now I manually apply upgrades after using urpmi --auto-select to download new software.
