Adding disk

Hi. I just finished formatting, setting up and dropping information to a new ext3 partition, but how do i get the disk into the system, so i can actually see it as i see home directory and the cd roms.

Here's why. I am trying to set the desktop background to a pretty good tara reid picture, but i can't do it cause the only way to acces the damn picture is through mnt and the ...ing thing stalls as soon as i get there, and i can't open konqueror any longer. HELP PLEASE

And if you by any chance know how to drop konqueror apps that just start loading on the task bar and then disappear without showing anything, that would be more than perfect. Cause i have no idea what PID they have when i type top on a terminal.

open up konsole:

su -
mkdir /mnt/hda1
mount /dev/hda1 /mnt/hda1

replacing hda1 with the hard drive name
