Is there a Firefox 1.0 package for Mandrake 10.1? I tried using urpmi for Firefox and a message is returned saying that there is "no package named firefox"?...

I haven't seen one yet. But I believe if you run ff as root, you can autoupdate.

You may try mozilla-firefox, that is what it is called in debian

mozilla.org installer works fine
I just downloaded the standard firefox installer from mozilla.org and followed directions -- it worked fine (and I am using it to write this). I'm using Mandrake 10.1 "community" (whatever "community" means).

"Community" is the pre-release, test version of "Official". A lot of bugs have been worked out since that release. I'd suggest upgrading if you can.

Mozilla firefox
(installing from source) You should try to run ./firefox-installer (when you are in the firefox installation directory) , it will work if your distro is fully installed.
