I haven't seen one yet. But I believe if you run ff as root, you can autoupdate.

    mozilla.org installer works fine

I just downloaded the standard firefox installer from mozilla.org and followed directions -- it worked fine (and I am using it to write this). I'm using Mandrake 10.1 "community" (whatever "community" means).

"Community" is the pre-release, test version of "Official". A lot of bugs have been worked out since that release. I'd suggest upgrading if you can.

    Mozilla firefox

(installing from source) You should try to run ./firefox-installer (when you are in the firefox installation directory) , it will work if your distro is fully installed.
