What is your kernel version? Have you mounted the drive before trying to burn? Are you using old-school SCSI emulation? Can you burn as root?

Actually, since then I've switched to SUSE 9.1. I have a different problem in it though:

When I try to burn a CD in k3b, it hangs at the fixation process.

    I am using cdrecord 2.1a27
    My kernel version is 2.6.4-52-default
I am running k3b under root
I did not mount the cd drive first, I assumed is was not needed.

If any other details are needed, please letme know.

    Thanks again.

Well...you are correct in not mounting it...I just wanted to make sure that you didn't try that.

Umm...Have you tried multiple discs? It may have been a bad disc.

If not...does it just hang indefinately? Check your logs to see if there's some odd error showing up there. I'm starting to shoot in the dark now...

It does hang indefinitely...I've given it about an hour before losing patience.

Where would I go to check the logs?

    Thanks.

    Ok, nevermind about that :o

I am back in mandrake 9.2, running kernel 2.4.22-10mdk

Now my system does not support ATAPI with cdrdao.

I am still trying to make a bootable cd for mandrake 10.1 official.

    Any ideas?

(I also heard about a way to maount an iso filesystem in linux. Can I install mandrake this way?)

    Thanks.

And what's the output of 'cdrecord dev=ATAPI -scanbus' ?
