    thanks for the reply.
i have tried it already, but the default page still goes to the same index file.
(file:/usr/share/doc/HTML/index.html). the home url is set to file:/home/login

if you can't get anything to work just type in about:blank

I know it is not the most fun start page, but it save you a little loading time

    I found this quote here

Open Konqueror, navigate to the WEB page you want as your start page.

Click Settings in the menu bar at the top of the window, then click save view profile
"webbrowsing" in the resulting drop down menu.

In the Profile Management window which pops open, make sure the Save URL's in profile option at the bottom of the window has an X.
    Give it a try.
