drakconf not working !!!

hi,
i'm a new user of Linux Os. I have a HPd220 series machine with Mandrake 9.2 , Linux 2.4.22-21mkd-i686-up-4gb.
The problem is that drakconf command is not opening the system configuration window and gives following error--

Can't locate MDK/Common.pm in @INC (@INC contains: /usr/lib/libDrakX /usr/bin/lib/perl5/5.8.6/i686-linux /usr/bin/lib/perl5/5.8.6 /usr/bin/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8.6/i686-linux /usr/bin/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8.6 /usr/bin/lib/perl5/site_perl .) at /usr/lib/libDrakX/common.pm line 3.
BEGIN failed--compilation aborted at /usr/lib/libDrakX/common.pm line 3.
Compilation failed in require at /usr//bin/drakconf line 26.
BEGIN failed--compilation aborted at /usr//bin/drakconf line 26.
i guess this is something to do with the perl5.8.6 installation that i have done, althogh perl5.3.1 was installed.
The other utility i'm unable to open is openoffice applications.

same problem here, it doesn't start and finally Drakconf freezes , but i don't get an error message

using mdk 10.1
