    Me 2 a newbie...just moved from windows to mandrake 10.1 official.

    Even i have the same prob...i have an adsl ethernet pppoe conn in which i hav to select the provider but i m not having ne luck in linux. In windows i used the 'raspppoe' program to get a query from the isp but i m not sure how to go about in linux. Can neone help? Plz tell me more bout Knoppix if poss!

    Just go to the website. It will tell you all you need to know. It is a distro that can run the OS off a CD. That means you do not have to install it. It is a good tool to use when you try to get people over to linux. Mandrake also has a live CD. Damn small linux has one that will fit on a thumb drive. Some distros can boot off a floppy. What is it that you would like to know or did that sum it up?

    Thanx. i had heard bout booting linux from a cd and think its quite facinating. So i m already dloading it!

    Well thanx again daemonOS but can u also tell me which distro is reccomended? I use a P3/128 MB RAM...which one do u suggest for me???

    Knoppix or Damn small linux. I use knoppix but you can use what ever you like. It so great to have all these choices but can also be cumbersum to a new user...
