Ati drivers for Mandrake ( ATI MR 9800 )
I'm having the same problem as mentioned before but i cannot make a custom kernel....Yes, I'm a nOOb. I'm trying to install the new ati drivers. I was wondering if anyone could hellp me...thanks*****also note that I just installed Mandrake 10.1 powerpack+ this morning and this is the first thing I did.
here's where I'm stuck at:
ATI module generator V 2.0
==========================
initializing...
Error:
kernel includes at /usr/src/linux/include do not match current kernel.
they are versioned as ""
instead of "2.6.8.1-12mdksmp".
you might need to adjust your symlinks:
- /usr/include
- /usr/src/linux
[root@localhost build_mod]#

Care to tell how you got the right kernel-source to get detected by the ATI driver's make.sh script?

Well, I'm running Mandrake 10.1 with the stock kernel. I never used that check.sh script because I only worked for XFree. First of all, what *nix are you running? "uname -r" should give you what kernel version your running. PM me and I can maybe help you in a more direct fashion instead of forum posts( as I don't check everyday ).

I was able to finally get the kernel and make fglrx.
I am however having another problem with the drivers. I am getting:
Fatal server error:
Caught singal 11. Server aborting.
and
XIO: fatal IO error 104 (Connection reset by peer) on X server ":0.0"
after 0 requests (0 known processed) with 0 events remaining.
I do get a couple of unresolved symbols but I am told that they're probably not the cause of this.
Hope you can help. Thanks in advance!

Help, please!
I have same problem:
But kernel and sources of kernel are same! And symlink(in /usr/src) is correct: /usr/src/linux-> kernel2.6.18.Code:ATI module generator V 2.0 ========================== initializing... Error: kernel includes at /lib/modules/2.6.18/build/include do not match current kernel. they are versioned as "" instead of "2.6.18". you might need to adjust your symlinks: - /usr/include - /usr/src/linux
where I did be mistaken?
