Unable to boot to GUI
I am attempting to install Mandrake 10.1. This is my first Linux install in several years. (I am for all practical purposes a newbie.) I downloaded the DVD ISO. It burned with no problem, and my PC booted to the installer. I was able to install with only one problem: The generic GeForce 6800 driver would not work with my BFG 6800 GT. I was able to find another driver, the Xorg vesa driver, that would display the test screen, though. However, when I reboot the system after installation, I get nothing but a command-line that says grub>. This occurs regardless of whether I choose the GRUB bootloader or LILO. I have also tried changing the bootloader options to see if that may be the problem. I have done a full erase of the partition from which I will boot before install. It seems to me that the bootloader is definitely not functioning properly, but I don't know how to correct this.
