im going to dual boot with windows 98 se and mandrakelinux 10.1 i have a modem and i would like to know if the modem will work with mandrakelinux 10.1 and if i fit the requirements. i have:
300mhz Processer
327mb Ram
8 GB hard drive (6.7 Gb Free)
will this system run linux good

Your best bet is to search for your modem model and the word Linux on google.
