    Legal issues

    Hi ,

If I bought a powerpack disc.

Is it legal to distribute my powerpack 10.1 disc to my friends.

How abt if i don't give them the disk and just install it in their system?

It appears that the disc includes commercial software as well as software covered under the GNU General Public License or GPL. The disc should display some licensing information during installation and there may be additional file(s) on the CD that describe your rights. Basically, any software developed under the GPL or is derivative of software covered by the GPL can be given freely. The GPL allows you to sell, modify or give away the software, with the requirement that you must include the GPL license with the software and that you may not restrict the new owner in what s/he does with the software. Commercial software not covered by the GPL will include a license, probably with the usual restrictions. Support Open Source!
