hi i have linux 10.1 going to install it on my comp. i have windows xp pro and when i burned the image to the disk and placed it in the dvd rom it came up with the options to install or install via floopy etc. when i click install ( just to test if it is working) nothing comes up. but the others work. do i have to boot up into the cd?

Boot with the CD in the cdrom

Correct.
The option on the BIOS is called "boot sequence". Set the cd rom to be your first device.
