having trouble getting the install dvd to start
I downloaded Mandrake 10.1 from thier website (the dvd version) and sucessfully burned it to DVD. I was under the impression from reading the install notes, that this dvd would was bootable and the would start the install. Well, it does not boot when I restart the computer, and I get booted into my existing Windows XP enviroment. I tried running the autorun program from XP. The GUI loads with installation options. I pick install mandrake 10.1 and nothing happens when clicking on it.
Other notes: My harddrive already has Linux partitions available.

Did you go into your BIOS and change the boot order of your devices, to boot from the DVD first?
Also, did you burn the ISO as a bootable file on a bootable device? There's a subtle difference here, and you might have just burned the files to the disk as copies. Check the menu options on your software package. Hope this makes some sense to you!
I may not have understood you correctly...
