Kaffine signal 11 crash
Hi all,
I recently installed libdvdcss2 so as I could watch my encyped DVDs in Kaffine but now on some disks the application closes and I get a message from the KDE Crash Handler that Kaffine has crashed and caused the signal 11 SIGSEGV. It's only on some DVD's and not all,but I don't know what this means or how to fix it. Has anyone else come across this and resolved it?
Thanks,
Martin,

Hi Jeremy,
Do you mean from the 'Run Command' option on the start menu of from Konsole?

Got the PM

Do you get this error only on DVD?
Do you get this error on other DVD
Is you DVD regionless?
Have you tryed using mplayer?
If you dont have Mplayer,
Download the latest Kaffeine player, its a lot better and doesnt crash as often.. (works great for me anyewway)\"Meditative mind\'s is like a vast ocean... whatever strikes the surface, the bottom stays calm\" - Dalai Lama

Hi Ugo,
Thanks for getting back to me. Yes, this error only hapens on DVD and then only certain disks. Ireland is region 2 in the DVD market, so all disk, bar regionless, are this code. I have a regionsless disk of promos & trailers I got for free at a cinema and that runs fine. Do I need to set the region code in Linux like I have to in Windows? The other possibility is the version of libdvdcss2 I installed, it was libdvdcss2 i386, no mention of Mandrake or any other distro so I assumed it worked in all Linux distros. Have I installed the wrong package?
I don't have Mplayer and when I try to install the new version of Kaffeine I get a message saying some components can't be installed as the following are missing "libxorg-11-devel-6.7.0-4.2.101mdk,i586 libxorg-x11-devel-6.7.0-4.2.101mdk.i586 (due to unsatisfied devel [lib2] )" Could this be caused by the install of the 'i386' package? If I have installed the wrong one, how do I fix this? Will installing the correct one overwrite and where do I get the correct package?
Thanks for all the help Ugo.

Those will setup your URPM database.
Then type
This will uninstall KaffeineCode:urpme kaffeine
Then typeThis should install all required libraryCode:urpmi /path/to/downloaderRPM/Kaffeine.rpm

Sory for the late reply, I had to go by food :P
it doesnt matter... the uninstall will only remove the file...
you can download it before or after without any effect

Hi again Ugo,
Still having problems, i'm afraid. I downloaded and took the 'install it' option for Kaffeine but was advised 28 other items had to be installed as well, some of these showed a failed messaged that just said 'installation failed: ::logger_id: ' and now from the Konsole as root I get the following;
root@dhcppc0 martin]# urpmi /path/to/downloaderRPM/Kaffeine.rpm
unable to access rpm file [/path/to/downloaderRPM/Kaffeine.rpm]
error registering local packages
If I don't reply in the next few minutes, I've had to go to bed (after Midnight over here) and need to be up for work tomorrow but I can check the forum from my computer in work.
