Mandrake 10 to 10.1 update (newbie questions)
I orignally installed Mandrake 10 from 3 cds and recently updated from a magazine dvd to 10.1. Now if I try to install software and the system needs to access the disk, it automatically opens the cd tray but asks for the the dvd to be inserted. I have tried loading the dvd in its drive but the system won't accept it - it just keeps asking for the DVD to be inserted, even after I have done so.
Also, when I install software using an RPM how do I then get it to load under KDE? I can't figure out if it automatically appears on the menu system (and if so, where) or whether there is something extra I need to do.
Apologies if these are really stupid questions!

I'm not sure about the first part of the question but, usualy the icon for the rpm, if it was a GUI, will apear on the menu, if it doesn't try typing the program name in terminal to get it to run;

Mandrake install media
Did you try to rebuild the RPM database ?
To do this select System/Configuration/Packaging/Software Media Manager
from the taskbar.
Good luck!

dear cbaurtx
Thanks very much for that - I went into Software Media Manager as you suggested and sure enough the target for the DVD was cdrom1, so I just changed that to cdrom2 and voila!
Thanks again
