Installing Software
Hi,
Just a newbie here. I installed mandrake 10.1. It loaded perfectly. Now I want to install firefox. I downloaded it from the firefox site. But then I don't know what to do. I searched the forums and people say to use the control center and add it through there. I try but I don't see the control center anywhere. Not in System>Configuration so where is it?
Thanks

A how to install software guide is available here
As for FireFox, download it and then click on the file and it should start an installer.
If it doesn't start go to a terminal and typereplace /path/to/directory with the path to were you downloaded the firefox file, and relpace firefoxinstall.bin with the file you downloaded.Code:cd /path/to/directory ./firefoxinstall.bin

you should go to MandrakeClub, set up URPMI from one of the mirrors.
Would save you lots of time and trouble. Always better to use Mandrake rpms than install from tarballs IMHO.
