    No GUI

Hello all, new member. I've just installed Mandrake, it's also my first Linux install too, but I'm having a problem. When I start up the computer, I get to a screen that says:

    - Linux
    - Failsafe

Now I don't know exactally what to do, so I select Linux, and everything goes all DOS-like and runs through the setup? After that, I type "login", and get in under my username and pass. I've read through the forums and I tryed typing in "startx" but when I do, I get an error saying something like I don't have sufficent rights?

I just need to get the GUI up. Can anyone help me out? I'm a complete newb to all this, thanks anyway.

can you post the exact error please.

You might want to try loging in as root and then typing startx, but this will start X as root, which isn't the safest thing to do since you can cause a lot of damge.
