Nvidia drv.problem Font not loading
it asks loginname and pwd and there is no graphical interphace
previously the Kde loaded automatically. now only shell comes up after booting asking loginname/pwd.
i can access folders using login name root.
I want to get the kde user interface back. What do I do???
The prob started when i made a change in MC centre and then the OS started malfunctioning :
i changed permissions in the "config. your computer"
added rule and typed '/' and then selected current user and then clicked ok
startx at the shell doesn't load GUI.
the following error is displayed:
it says ........redefined.....
........redefined.....
.......redefined.....
........redefined.....
[SPCE]redefined[A09] something like that.
Fatal error:font not loaded
I guess uninstalling nvidia drivers would solve the prob because the sys. goes to the shell prompt after the nvidia logo is displayed.
PLEASE HELP URGENT!!!!

i think you have to configure xorg.conf file correctly..... changing device name is involved.

explanation for Nvid. problem font not found.
i made a change in MC centre and then the OS started malfunctioning
The following was the change as far as my memory serves me right:
I went and clicked 'config. your computer'
Then went to user config[forgot the actual name].
added a new rule[can you plz. check that in man10.1 following the above] and typed '/' and clicked current user. My intention was to give the current user access as root.
Then the OS stopped working.
I shut down improperly.
Now the shell comes after the nVidia logo and asks for login/pwd.
Plz. check man10.1. I am in winXP right now.
Thanks.

XF86......
xorg.conf or XF86-4??
I saw XF86...-4 using vi and then stopped the process [ not by :wq or :q] by entering"exit in the shell as i remember.
Now when I access the file again it says vi was terminated improperly would the user like to replace[or something similar] with/append *.swp.
This is another prob. Any suggestions????

i never installed nvidia from MC, i know that the proper way to do it is from the shell..... all you have to do it is to run script and follow the prompt...........on the other side i'm new to linux and i might be wrong.

I didn't install Nvid. drivers seperately. I installed it with cd3/4/5[ I don't know] while installing Man 10.1 official.
in the previous post i had accessed XF86..-4 after the catastrophe occured after going through some posts on this forum.

i have no exp. with cd 3/4/5. i downloaded it from their website..... it was preety easy to install it this way.
and you always have newest driver on their website....so if there's any issue with old ones, big chance that it's corrected in new one.
