    hi i would like to know how to play a dvd on mandrake linux 10.1 i installed it today and i dont think mplayer is installed how do i play a dvd?
    and do i have to download and install mplayer, if so where do i get it?
    or is mplayer on either disk 1,2,3 please help.

    Try typing in konsole urpmi mplayer and if there are packages with that name you can install it. If not, go to and download the newest mplayer. Then you will need the library libdvdread, libdvdcss
    the first one is to read dvd discs, and the second one is to read no matter what the reagion is.
    You can also go to Mandrakelinux Control centar > Software > Install Software > and search is there packges called mplayer. I think that with mandrake comes mplayer.
    If you do this I dont think that you will have any problem.
