You're best bet is to install the WINE version that comes with MDK from URPMI. It might not be the most up to date, but it sets up all your config files and directories for you, rather then having to do it yourself. Then, if you need to, upgrade from winehq.

The one on the disk is pretty good. I'm sticking with that, The downside is you don't get winelauncher, which means you need to run all of your apps froma terminal.
Not that it's a bad thing to run from there, but for file associations it gets messy popping up a terminal behind the app you've just launched.
