    Printer Colors Go Crazy

    My printer starts printing black and then slowly fades into different colors.
    My printer is an HP psc 1210 all-in-one. It used to print fine. I noticed the
    problem after I installed the last security update.

    I run Mandrake 10.1

    I already tried deleting and then adding the printer again with the CUPS admin tool.

    Any suggestions?

    Also, the printer works fine with my Windows machine, so I know the problem is not the printer.

    Problem fixed--sort of.

    I usually print b&w docs, but today I printed something with color on it. The colors didn't print correctly because the color cartridge was on its last leg. After I replaced the color cartridge, the colors printed fine. But that is not all that was fixed by putting in a new color cartidge--now the black and white documents also print correctly again.

    The interested thing is my Windows machine printed the b&w docs fine even though the color cartridge was empty.
