    Dynamic ip address updating

I have been trying to modify a shell script to automatically update my ip address at freedns.afraid.org.
obviously the script I am using has environmental variables which do not match my own.
One of these is the location where the ip address of my inet_if ppp0 is written.
Can anyone point me to where this is stored by default in the MDK10.1 distro.
Alternatively if anyone would care to share a working script of their own with explanations of the variables that would be supercool.

oops this forum has the same format buttons etc of another one I was logged into.
I seem to have posted to this one instead of the other.
I was wondering why I couldn't find my post there.
