    mandrake 10.1 installation problem

    I cant get past the first disk (1)
    there is a message: detecting usb Disabling irq 21.
    then at the bottom of the screen there is the following message

    proceding please wait.

    and I do wait for a long time and nothing happens.

    help me please.

    Have you tried pressing F1 (for more boot options) and passing noapic or acpi=off to the installer?
    There are two major products that come out of Berkeley: LSD and UNIX. We don't believe this to be a coincidence.

    Thanks for that
    after a bit of experimenting with the usb plugs I finally got the setup to start
    it seems that one of the usb ports was overloaded with toomany connections.
