some problems faced while ugrading xine
first question is mandrake better than fedora 3
if yes pls give me some points to upgrade to mandrake
i am not a regular user of mandrake but i have tried mandrake 10.1 official edition.
The problem faced was i am unable to upgrade or install newer version of kaffiene or xine
it always gives me error during ./configure
the kaffiene or xine pakage works fine with other linux distro
like ./configure make make install gives no problem
i later tried the rpm file but it was of no use
pls let me know hoe to install software on mandrake
specially kaffeine updated version

Did you get any error messages with the failed rpm install? Knowing that might help folks figure out what your issues are.
Did you use urpmi w/the Mandrake package installer to load your programs? It will figure out what each program's dependencies are and all that jazz. Also, if something gets messed up, you can use the Mandrake package uninstaller to make sure any packages that don't work properly are correctly unistalled.
I don't know how much you know about Mandrake, but you can find the package installer under Start Menu > System > Configuration > Packaging.
To get updated rpms, go to http://urpmi.notix.net/ and follow the instructions.
