Fedora Core 3 was on this hard drive, I used Mandrake to auto-create new partitions, not having any troubles with Mandrake Community 10.1 yet.

Are there partition belonging to amother OS (Win32) there on that disk?
Actually I'd guess it's looking for a USB key or MP3 player or something. I used to get errors similar to that before I got plug and play to fully recognise the devices. Have you ever had anything like that plugged in at boot?

Yes, I had my LaCie CD/R USB plugged in at a prevous startup. The LaCie didn't work, so I unplugged it with the system on. I'm used to a MAC Panther system so I pull plugs all the time! Thanks for the info.
