    Cannot Get Sound to Activate

    I recently installed Mandrake 10.1 and I am having a problem with getting sound to work. I have a Soundblaster Audigy Value Edition sound card, and I can configure both my on-board and my PCI sound card in Linux -- it detects the hardware -- but the sound just does not work. The same thing also happens on my other computer with on-board sound.

    Help me, please?

    Do you have alsa running?
    Go to MCC + system + Service and see if it's started.
    Do you see it starting at boot time?
    Did you check on the volume control if the sounds is not simply muted?
