    installing xmms

    I've d/led xmms from rpm.pbone.net, but when I install and run it it looks like the program hangs and quits. This has happened with every xmms rpm i've tried for mandrake. Anybody help? O_O

    what output do you get with
    Code:
    rpm -ivh xmms-x.x.x.rpm
    (replace the x with the numbers in the file) do this in the terminal as root.

    If it installes without errors, what happens when you type
    Code:
    xmms
    in the terminal?

    Since you got it off the net, you may want to try urmpi. Odds are that the urmpi version of xmms may be better suited for Mandrake.
