html editing using vi

I am attempting to edit a web page in vi that is supported by multiple browsers. I am real new to editing web pages and would like to know where I can find a good resource for code to accomplish this. I would like to add buttons and borders and all but I have no idea how to code it as I don't know what code does what. I need a site that I can bookmark that explains it all and hopefully it is one that I can use with vi. Can anyone help me? So far I have copied some code that works from front page or other editors that were from other sites and gotten some things to work but I have no idea what does what and would like to learn.

You could start by studying the source of pages on the web that have the features you want: just view=>page source. Of course you won't have the source for applets and stuff, but that's not html.

Thanks a ton guys. Those links and sources are helping me out big time. I am learning linux on my own because I want to. Microsoft I have to learn in order to get a job in this century. Damn you Bill Gates. hehehehehe
