    why mandriva does this

    i am a new linux user and i begin with ubuntu(hoary).it worked well.then i decided to try mandriva 10.1 it worked well until shutdown. autoshutdown doesnot work.i must press power button.i know that my computer has acpi function.is there any idea about this problem.

    Mandriva 10.2 Power Off

    Try switching the bootloader to grub if you are using lilo. I ran into the same issue and this fixed it on my machine.

    First did you check that "acpi=on" was in the lilo config (Or easier, in Mandrake Control Centre under Boot, do the properties for your default boot option have acpi ticked?)
