Try again using http://easyurpmi.zarb.org/ and select other sites than what you already have.

i am curious to ask wat does "...retrieving failed: curl: (6) Couldn't resolve host" means ???

Can you ping those hosts?
There are two major products that come out of Berkeley: LSD and UNIX. We don't believe this to be a coincidence.

tarun, it's an error that happens whenever the dependencies are messed up. Completely remove the exisiting dependencies and then reapply using the easyurpmi and all will be well.

yes i am able to ping to the hosts.
since i am using a proxy server of my college do i need to specify anywhere about the proxy setting and username/passwd before writing those commands on the console.??
one more thing while typing all these things i am getting the error that "unable to update main" but when i did
#urpmi mplayer-gui .
it installed mplayer. does it mean that my urpmi is configured?

That looks like the urpmi software. Don't remove that!
Go into mandrake control centre and select the software tab. There you'll find options for maintaining the sources. Just delete all that you have listed. Then run the commands generated from easyurpmi.
Post back if probs.
