Evo N115 Modem Drivers - Mandriva 10.2
My Laptop is a Compaq Evo N115
Installed Mandriva 10.2
HELP ME PLEASE
The EVO N115 features a Conexant integrated modem which requires specific drivers and is not installed and configured automatically.
The required modem drivers can be found at: http://www.linuxant.com
You need the HSF driver. Drivers are available in various forms (RPM packages, tarball, source RPM packages). The RPM are only suitable for standard installations, but this installation is not standard, because you must rebuild the kernel to enable ACPI, so I recommend the tarball to compile the source from scratch.
Because the installation from source requires the kernel source distribution, this step must be performed last (after kernel rebuild needed for ACPI).
The tar file contains an INSTALL document with full directions.
Note: There is a small problem with these drivers: they are not able to use the sound system to let you hear the modem beeps when doing the connection. The advantage is that connecting to a provider is a perfectly silent operation.
