can I install "old" stuff on mandriva
I wan't to know can I install some rpms that were for mandrake 8.2 or 9.1 on Mandriva 2005, will it work will it crash or won't it even install, can't find newer versions of the stuff I want to install in rpm form.
Guess I could just give it a try and see what happens, but I don't want to mess things up if I can avoid it.

I don't see how something like that could break your system.
If the rpm is unsuitable, you will probably just get an error.
Have you tried using urpmi to install the software?
What software are you trying to install, maybe we could help you find an appropriate rpm or srpm. How to know if you are a geek.
when you respond to "get a life!" with "what's the URL?"
