LiLo should still have been able to boot your Windows computer, even after you removed the second hard drive.
When you took the second hard drive out, did you change the jumpers on the first hard drive, so it would be Master by itself.
What kind of hard drive is this? How to know if you are a geek.

Re: windows and mandrake problem!!!!
Well you could install the windoze hd in another xp pc as the secondary hd. Then once it has booted go to disk management & activate the 2nd hd & give it a drive letter. You then should be able to browse. Or you could boot the xp hd from a floppy & check whether you can browse via dos. Or you could boot your xp hd with a xp boot disc then type
