Do you want to install onother distro? if so just bung in the install cd and install on /dev/hda1 and it should install over windows.
Or are you looking to format the windows partition and use it for space? if so you might want to check out QTParted.

Oh, to do this just format the whole drive using something like KillDisk, and then just install xp on the drive
If you want to keep the mandrake partition as it is but install XP on it, just boot up a live distro like Knoppix and use QTparted which is on it to format the mandrake partition FAT32 which Windows can read and should be able to install over.

can you walk me through how to use killdisk ?
- 06-19-2005 #6The XP installer should be able to delete the linux partitions. In Win2k's partitioning step, you can press d to delete the selected partition and then press c to create a new partition; I think the options are identical in XP.
