If you're looking for something like wimap, try XMMS. Amarok is pretty good also, which, I guess, could be compared to Windows Media Player.

I use Xmms, you can use WinAMP skins. All you have to do is change the wsz extension to zip, unzip it using Ark, and then move the folder to the .xmms folder in your home directory. Here's a screen shot of my Xmms player.

There are also other audio players, like noatun and "bmp" (beep media player, a fork from xmms). Roughly said, if you're into a cool-looking player with a ton of flashing graphical effects to associate to the music, chose xmms or bmp. But if you're a playlists freak and are into the management of thousands of files and hundreds of playlists and sorting the files using the metatags, you'll rather pick amarok, that is, so to say, linux's equivalent to itunes.
