I'm assuming you installed it under Cedega, if you installed under WINE you may run into problems as it's not designed for running games.
If you are using Cedega, then make sure you have your 3D adapter's drivers installed correctly. I use the nvidia ones and have few problems, however I've heard people say that there are a lot of problems with ATi's drivers for linux.
