iam wondering if nVidia Geforce4 460 Go supports 3d version of the desktop platform for mandrive. i've tried it on another desktop and it looks pretty neat but i cant use it on my laptop. also does neone know how to turn up the brightness on my laptop when its on battery only?
If you want to use the AIGLX that comes with X.org 7.1, the 460 Go is supported. You'll need Nvidia's binary drivers (version 96.29 or higher), and either compiz or beryl for now.
Have a look at antidrugue's tutorial for configuration details. It's written with Debian in mind, but most of it is universally applicable.
how do i install the drivers? iam a complete n00b with linux
2. Install the kernel-source
A. urpmi kernel-source OR
B. Go to mandrake control center > software management >install >search and type kernel and download
This is the correct kernel source: kernel-source-2.6-22.214.171.124-12mdk
[imdeemvp@localhost imdeemvp]$ uname -r
[imdeemvp@localhost imdeemvp]$ rpm -qa | grep kernel-*
that makes no sense to me
