Mandriva, updates, and the nx9010 laptop
OK, so I'm running Mandriva Linux on my HP nx9010 laptop. Getting the wireless card working has been giving me a real headache... but we'll get to that later. My major concern now is not being able to update or register Mandriva. I currently have an internet connection through the laptops standard network port. I can access the internet, connect with IM clients, etc. However, what I cannot do is register with Mandrake online or retrieve updates from any of the mirrors. The Mandrakeonline registration simply tells me "Problem connecting to server," while the Software edia Manager tells me it is "unable to add medium, errors reported: It's impossible to retreive the list of new packages," so on and so forth (it's a very long error box) This error is after it receives a list of mirrors, mind you. Any ideas on this would be greatly appreciated...
Also, since I'm here I'll tell you guys about my wireless issue. The card is a Broadcom BCM4306 802.11b/g Wireless LAN Controller (revision 2). I used Mandriva's included ndiswrapper configuration tool, and the windows drivers I got from HP. Everything appeared to be working. It showed my connected to the wireless network with a signal strength of 100. It even showed my IP address as asignedby the router. However, I still could not connect to the internet at all. Later, after rebooting, the laptop does not seem to be recognizing the card/network at all... once again, any input here would be much appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
Edit: I'm running Mandriva 2005 LE
