I don't know for sure if updating the BIOS/Firmware on your computer will fix the problem but you're not able to get Mandriva installed with the system the way it is now.

No change in the outcome. Completed the Bios and HP NetRaid Firmware updates and installation still fails when trying to install the driver for the Symbion|53c895 (UW SCSI Controller)

Maybe you should consider trying another distro such as SuSE.

Well at this time changing the distro doesn't interest me. I am starting to get solid ground under me with Mandrake and I've been happy with it so far, small obsticles like this aside. I know a answer exsists, I just need to find it.

Thanks again for your help today!

I've done some more searching and it appears that the card works fine using the 2.4.x kernel yet doesn't work using the 2.6.x kernels.

I just looked at the driver that is loaded for my SCSI controller and it's the same one that is required for your system. I'm using SuSE 9.3 Pro.
