Mandriva 2006 can't login
I upgraded from mandrake community 10.1 to Mandriva 2006. During bootup it gets stuck. The message reads:
Mandriva linux release 2006.0 [cooker] for i586
Kernel 2.6.12-11mdk-i586-up-1GB on an i586 / tty1
Local host login:
No matter what I type in nothing works. I tried my previous root password as well as user names. If I just hit enter the same message appears.
Has anybody else had this problem?

nope, but i would have sugested that before you upgraded that it would be better to have done a fresh install rather than an upgrade.
Try use knoppix or something to backup your stuff, then perform a fresh install of mandrake.Life is complex, it has a real part and an imaginary part.

Since that's a beta version you should file a bug report at qa.mandriva.com and maybe post to the cooker mailing list as well.
If you want something that works don't use beta versions
