I'm a new Linux user, and I just installed Mandriva 10.2, but I can't seem to boot to any kind of GUI. I'm stuck in text based. Help?...

No GUI?

After logging in, type startx to get a gui.

You could also try typing *init 5* (As root) !

It sounds like you didn't setup a GUI during the last stages of Installation. You can either go thru the install again, or set it up using xorgconfig (or similar).
