mandrake troubles booting to shell
Hello everyone i've jus installed Mandrake 10.1 on my laptop and each time i boot Mandrake 10.1 its boots fine, but it boots into the shell....now I'm kind of a newbie to linux so i know of the shell and what i t can do but i would like to be able to work in KDE desktop so anyone who help....(and i did install the KDE desktop when i installed mandrake)

Do you get any errors? Can you post the contents of your /etc/inittab please?

Also have you tried the command
& if you have no luck tryCode:startx
The first command will try to start a GUI session for you & the second command will let you reconfigure your monitor, video card & also ask you if you would like to have the GUI started automactically (also note that for the second command you need to be root so do aCode:XFdrake
then enter the password for root).Code:su
