Recently I've found some nice monospaced fonts at this location: http://www.proggyfonts.com/index.php?menu=download. I'd like to use .pcf files, so I downloaded them to my ~/.fonts directory, compressed them and run mkfontdir on the folder, and finally added this font path with xset to be sure it works. Now the fonts are pretty visible with xlsfonts command, but they are not visible in any GTK or KDE application. Could you help?
