installation of rpm & tar
i downloaded the yahoo messenger for redhat 9.but iam using mandrake 10.1.can i install it on my os.
the one which i downloaded is .rpm one .how 2 install the one with .rpm & also with .tar

if you want to install it the .rpm one is easiest since it is a binary.
Open up a terminal and do the following:(replacing file.rpm with the path to the .rpm you donloaded).Code:su [rootpassword] rpm -ivh file.rpm
