problems

type startx to get a gui, if you want it to permenantly to go to a gui, edit the /etc/inittab file as root. Look for a line like this:
change the 3 to a 5 to get gui.Code:# The default runlevel is defined here id:3:initdefault:

it didn't work...i typed startx and then it had authx-creating new file /----/-----/---(can't remember what it said in the ' - ' ) and then it had something then server error....

It sounds like your X-server wasn't setup correctly, try running xorgconfig and resetup the X-server.

I just remember having to setup my graphics card. I think you can set up your screen resolution to 1024 by 768. And once you are on the xwindows setup, it will let you change it.
But I had to ask a friend to do it. So have no details to help you. I am really a newbie so this is advice is probably not of much use !
