I need help, this is my first try at linux and i'm lost. i downloaded an iso file and wrote it to cd. i'm trying to install Mandriva 2006 for i586. when i put it into my laptop to boot it goes through all the steps, but then it just says
starting nifd...
with the cursor flashing after this. it stays like that for a few moments, then my screen just goes blank. any ideas as to what i need to do next?
i'd appreciate any ideas and tips.
